“In my time working here, I have seen a steep rise in requests for concrete assistance, particularly related to the costs of transportation, meals, housing and other basic needs. This is due to many reasons, including inflation and increasing poverty rates. Families have openly talked about feeling hopeless as they struggle to cope with having a sick child on top of these additional financial burdens. They look to top hospitals like Lurie Children’s to provide the best medical care and support for their children. I am grateful to be able to play a role in advancing this critical mission.”
