Nurses Holiday Party

Each year, the Founders’ Board helps plan and execute a celebration for Lurie Children’s nurses during the holiday season. The party features beautiful holiday décor, complete with Lurie Children’s themed gingerbread houses. Over 1,400 nurses receive breakfast, lunch or dinner, and a special gift from the Founders’ Board. The Nurses Holiday Party also gives Founders’ Board members the opportunity to say thank you to nurses for the incredible work they do on behalf of the patients and families we serve.

Nurses Week

Founders’ Board members partner with the Lurie Children’s Nursing Leadership Team each year to celebrate Nurses Week. It is such a special week for our nurses, and board members are lucky to play an integral role in both the planning and execution of this celebration.

Nurses Joy Cart

In collaboration with Senior Leadership and the Reward, Recognition, and Retention Committee, the Founders’ Board launched the Joy Cart to help spread joy and appreciation to the Lurie Children’s nurses. The Joy Cart is staffed with Founders’ Board members and rounds both inpatient and outpatient floors of the hospital to spread joy to nurses with coffee, treats, and small trinkets.

Our Patients & Families

The Founders’ Board Patient & Family Care Committee fulfills its mission to provide cheer and goodwill to patients and families with a number of activities throughout the year. The committee collaborates with Lurie Children’s Family Services to support the strategic goal of providing the best care and experience for patients and families within the hospital. The committee is honored to help support the Inpatient Prom, which is held each spring in the Family Life Center. Committee members partner with Child Life Specialists to create a magical experience for the patients. For patients who are unable to attend the Prom, Founders’ Board members decorate their inpatient rooms to help all teens feel the excitement.

Our Community

The Founders’ Board Healthy Communities Outreach Committee is proud to partner and serve as the Founders’ Board’s liaison to the Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities. Members participate in comprehensive education about the Magoon Institute’s work and engage in meaningful volunteer opportunities supporting underserved communities in the Chicagoland area.
