Nurses Holiday Party

Each year, the Founders’ Board helps plan and execute a celebration for Lurie Children’s nurses during the holiday season. The party features beautiful holiday décor, complete with Lurie Children’s themed gingerbread houses. Over 900 nurses receive breakfast, lunch or dinner, a $10 gift card to Foodlife, and a special gift from the Founders’ Board. The Nurses Holiday Party also gives Founders’ Board Members the opportunity to say thank you to nurses for the incredible work they do on behalf of the patients and families we serve.

Nurses Week

Founders’ Board members partner with Lurie Children’s Nursing Leadership Team each year to celebrate Nurses Week. It is such a special week for our nurses, and board members are lucky to play an integral role in both the planning and execution of this celebration.

Patients & Families

Hospitality

The Founders’ Board Hospitality Committee fulfills its mission to provide cheer and goodwill to patients and families with a number of activities throughout the year. The committee provides monthly refreshments to all of the Family Great Rooms at the hospital, which serve as treats to those visiting the hospital. During the holiday season, the committee celebrates with patients, families, and staff with hot chocolate and holiday décor throughout the hospital. Lastly, the committee is honored to help support the Inpatient Prom, which is held each spring in the Family Life Center. Committee members partner with Child Life Specialists to create a magical experience for the patients.

Community

Docent Tour Program

Docent Committee Members have served the important role of showcasing the hospital since Lurie Children’s opening in 2012. The docents tour a wide variety of groups, including medical professionals from all over the world, donors and prospective donors, businesses professionals, and both college and high school students. This special program allows outside visitors an inside look at the facility, which has patient input integrated throughout the design. Demand for tours has remained high since the program began in 2012.
